H1N1 Influenza (Swine flu) Vaccine
- **Update 12/1/09 ---We have received our allocation of H1N1 vaccine from King County. Please call our office at 206.281.1616 to schedule an appointment.

- The CDC recommends vaccination for the following groups:
- All persons age 6 months through 24 years
- People who live with or care for children under age 6 months
- All pregnant women
- Healthcare and emergency services personnel
- People aged 25 through 64 years with chronic health conditions
- The vaccine is optional, even if you meet the criteria above. The decision to receive the vaccine should be based on your risk of becoming exposed to the flu and your personal health risk should you catch the flu. You personally must weigh these risks against the unknown risk of potential adverse effects associated with receiving the vaccine.
- Risks associated with the H1N1 vaccine:
- The most common side effect to other flu vaccines is soreness at the injection site, occurring in about half of those vaccinated.
- Severe events cannot be fully anticipated but are likely to be similar to the regular flu vaccine, which occur in <1% of those vaccinated.
- There is a suspected but unproven association between other flu vaccines and Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
- We will offer the vaccine to those who meet the criteria above and request it.
- We will offer the vaccine to ANY person requesting it after permitted by Public Health (TBA after initial vaccination of target groups).
- Please schedule a visit with one of our providers to discuss questions or request vaccination.
