Tina La Plant - Artist Statement

Originally trained as a theater artist, Tina La Plant only recently discovered the ancient art of Encaustic painting. Inspired by paintings a friend was doing, about a year ago she signed up for an Encaustics class. The class was six weeks long and by the end, so intrigued by the limitless potential of the medium, Tina had set up a makeshift studio to continue the work at home.
Having always been a little bit of a crow, the shine and shimmer and the sweet smell of the encaustic medium was a big draw. Although new to working in wax, Tina is excited to share these recent works with you.
When her art is not lining the walls of Emerald City Medical Arts, she shows regularly at the Art/Not Terminal Gallery in South Lake Union, and is planning a larger showing of all new works in Spring of 2011 at Central Cinema in Seattle.
